A friend recently asked me if I could recommend a grey color for her walls as she wanted to clean up her living room. A torchère or torch lamp, is a lamp with a tall stand made of wood or metal. Originally, torchères were simply a candelabra, usually with two or three lights. When it was first introduced in France towards the end of the 17th century, the torchère mounted only one candle. When creating the warm and inviting home that we all strive to achieve, the initial concentration is nearly always on the floors and wall spaces of the rooms. It makes sense!
